The NCWTA TRIANGLE CHAPTER Proudly Presents Duke University's Award-Winning Speaker, Author, and Sociology Expert Gary Gereffi, Ph.D.

Join us Thursday, February 2nd from 4-6 PM for “Supply Chain Challenges & Solutions” followed by a Q&A townhall discussion! Our guest speaker is Dr. Gereffi, a nationally recognized expert in globalization, global supply chains, and economic, social, and environmental upgrading. 

Gary Gereffi is Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Founding Director of the Global Value Chains Center at Duke University (https://gvcc.duke.edu/). He received his B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame and his M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University. He has published over a dozen books and numerous articles on globalization, global supply chains, and economic, social, and environmental upgrading, and he is an originator of the Global Value Chains (GVC) framework.

Professor Gereffi testified at the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee hearings on “Implementing Supply Chain Resiliency” in Washington, D.C. on July 15, 2021. He served as an academic facilitator and commentator for the 2022 Supply Chain Ministerial hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo with 17 partner economies and the European Union on July 19-20, 2022.

Current research projects include: the COVID-19 pandemic and medical supply chains; the digital economy and its effect on international business and innovation strategies; the impact of U.S. protectionism on jobs and regional trade agreements; and shifting trade and investment patterns in the United States and East Asia, with a focus on China and Mexico.
